The Ohanaeze Youth Council, a pro-Igbo group, have proferred President Buhari with conditions for their support of his 2019 re-electiopn bid.
The National President of the group, Mazi Isiguzoro, in a Tuesday interview in Umuahia, Abia State, insisted that the President must look into the problems facing the entire south-east region, particularly the clamour for the creation of more states in the zone.
Isiguzoro said the President has to begin the creation of additional states in the Southeast zone before December.
He explained that the zoning of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Vice Presidential slot to the south-east ahead of 2019 election, was never the panacea to the infrastructural decays that have ravaged the zone.
His words,”If he wants Ndigbo to adopt him, he should create additional states in Southeast zone, whether the state is from Abia, Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi states or anywhere.
“So, if Buhari meets our demands by creating more states in the zone today, Ndigbo will vote for him in the 2019 presidential election.
“We will support him after he has given us another state. Giving us another state is bigger than the Vice Presidential slot given to south-east zone by PDP.
“The creation of the state, will give us more opportunities. Giving us more states, is the restructuring we are clamouring for.
“If Buhari can address the issue of restructuring, marginalization, infrastructural imbalance, population imbalance, structural imbalance, he will gain our support.
Isiguzoro added that,”Buhari should use his executive power and pronounce an additional state. Ndigbo will not support Buhari if he does not give us another state.
“The restructuring we are saying is that, they should give us another state from now till December.
