Samuel Eto'o Says, "I Made Barcelona A Winning Team & Not Lionel Messi"

Former Barcelona striker, Samuel Eto’o has claimed he was the reason behind the team’s successes under ex-manager Pep Guardiola, not fellow forward, Lionel Messi as speculated.

Messi, who is currently in Manchester ahead of Barcelona’s Champions League quarter-final against the Red Devils, is believed to be the star behind the Barca’s success streak at the Champions League about a decade ago.

Both Eto’o and Messi partnered in two Champions League finals, a 2-0 win in Rome 10 years ago and the 2011 win at Wembley.

These titles add to two more European honours and nine La Liga titles.

Messi was joined at Barcelona for five seasons by Eto’o, who scored 130 goals in nearly 200 appearances.

The Cameroonian striker now plays in the Middle East, with more than 350 goals in his career.

Speaking to beIN SPORTS, Eto’o said: “I’ve said to Guardiola ‘you’ll apologise to me because it’ll be me that will make Barcelona win, not Lionel Messi’.

“It was a situation back then.

“Messi would come later but you can ask Xavi, Andres Iniesta and all the others.

“That was my era.

“It was me that made Barca win and Guardiola would ask me for forgiveness.”

The forward went on to criticise the Manchester City’s boss approach in his time with Barca.

Eto’o added: “Pep Guardiola has lived his whole life in Barcelona.

“Messi would come later but you can ask Xavi, Andres Iniesta and all the others. That was my era.

“But in the years I spent there, he didn’t understand the squad.

“He didn’t live the life of our group.”

United fans will love these comments on Messi ahead of the game at Old Trafford.

Nnamdi - My Father Is Alive  Take a look at the 500 naira note, the man on there is  Dr.  Nnamdi Azikiwe . Please bear in mind that the naira note is a tapestry of pictures that represent the things and people we are most proud of as Nigerians and we are definitely proud of Nnamdi Azikiwe. 'Zik' as he was fondly called(16 November 1904 – 11 May 1996) was a Nigerian statesman who was Governor General of Nigeria from 1960 to 1963 and the first President of Nigeria from 1963 to 1966 (when Nigeria became a republic). Born to Igbo parents in present day Niger State, as a young boy he learned to speak Hausa. He was later sent to live with his aunt and grandmother in Onitsha (his parental homeland), where he learned the Igbo language. A stay in Lagos also exposed him to the Yoruba language; by the time he was in college, he had been exposed to different Nigerian cultures and spoke three languages (an asset as president). Az...

MESSIDEPENDENCE: Barcelona Is Dependent On Messi, Valverde Admits

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde admits his side are dependent on Lionel Messi - but insists that would be the case for any team with the Argentine in it. Messi has scored 42 goals in 39 games this season, and also added another 19 assists for the Catalans. As such, claims of 'Messidependence' continue to follow Barcelona, something which Valverde chose to address after the eight-goal thriller. "Of course there is 'Messidependence'," said Valverde. We’re not happy denying Nigerians visa —US embassy

The United States Embassy in Nigeria says contrary to popular beliefs, its visa officers are not always happy denying the visa applications of Nigerians. The embassy subsequently asked Nigerians to tune into a live Facebook talk at 2 pm on Wednesday. A Facebook post read in part, “Contrary to popular opinion, visa officers do not enjoy handing anyone the 214b refusal letter. “Proof: Visa Officers will be live on Facebook to talk about some of the commonly misunderstood questions on the DS 160 and help you improve your next application.” However, over 200 Nigerians disagreed in the comment section of the embassy’s Facebook page. Adaobi Emmanuella Njoku wrote, “Contrary to what you just posted, I think and believe they actually do enjoy it because they act like they know it all and still end up giving visas to people without genuine intentions. “I can’t wait for Wednesday to come because I have already prepared my questions. They will expla...
