We know them and love them for their football skills, however, a number of these men that we adore have found themselves caught in the despicable web of sex scandal.

11. Mauro Icardi

They might look like your ordinary couple, but Mauro Icardi and Wanda Nara are most certainly not. The Argentine model was previously the wife of Maxi Lopez, who played alongside Icardi when the two were at Sampdoria.

Icardi's affair with Nara became public knowledge, leaving her to divorce her Argentinian husband, with whom she had three children. The Inter Milan striker has met Lopez on the pitch on many times, but the latter refuses to acknowledge him.

10. Rio Ferdinand

As all responsible young adults do, Rio Ferdinand decided to film his antics whilst on holiday in Ayia Napa, Cyprus. Unfortunately, the sexually explicit video, which featured England teammates Frank Lampard and Kieron Dyer, found its way into the hands of the press.

If that was not enough, Ferdinand was also involved in the rape case of Leeds teammate Michael Duberry, while he was accused of having a 13-year long affair whilst married and was even thought to have brought his mistress along to away games.

9. Oliver Kahn

Oliver Kahn was happily married to Simone and had two children with her before he decided to publicly leave his wife and date well known television star Verena Kerth, amidst rumours of an affair.

Kerth was only 21 years old at that time, while Kahn's wife was pregnant with their child, causing the legendary German keeper to become somewhat of a hate figure. Kahn has since married someone else.

8. Dwight Yorke

Dwight Yorke and Mark Bosnich could compete as to who has more of a bad boy reputation off the football pitch and since the two played together at Aston Villa and Manchester United, it comes as no surprise that a scandal occurred involving the two.

The particular incident took place at Yorke's house, where he hosted four women with the Australian goalkeeper and taped the whole affair. Picked up in the trash by a reporter, the sex video soon was on the computer screens of many football fans.

7. Ronaldo

Finally, a sex scandal that doesn't make you hate the offender. One of the greatest strikers of all time, Ronaldo picked up three prostitutes in Rio de Janeiro in 2008, but discovered them to be transvestites once back at his hotel room.

Attempts to pay them off failed and the story hit the press, consequently ending the Brazilian's engagement with Maria Beatriz Anthony. As he so often did on the pitch though, Ronaldo saved the day and won her back.

6. Ashley Cole

One of the Premier League's best defenders and highest paid players, Ashley Cole looked to have it all after he married Girls Aloud pop star Cheryl Tweedy in 2006, but the fairy tale wedding did not have a fairy tale finish, as Cole was accused of adultery on a number of occasions.

Eventually revealed to be sending naked photos of himself to at least one of the four women that he was playing away from home with, Cheryl dumped the former Arsenal and Chelsea man just before the 2010 World Cup.

5. Karim Benzema

Benzema has been involved in not one, but two serious scandals. First, along with international teammates Franck Ribery and Sidney Govou, he was charged with sleeping with an underage prostitute, but the charges were dropped.

More recently, the Real Madrid striker was banned from the national team after being arrested and charged with conspiracy to blackmail Mathieu Valbuena over a sex tape that involved the French winger.

4. John Terry

The well-known affair of John Terry with Vanessa Perroncel, the girlfriend of Chelsea teammate Wayne Bridge, did not surprise many, considering the classy reputation of the former England captain.

Terry's adulterous behaviour was arguably one of the things which cost him the captaincy of the Three Lions and if any reconciliation between the pair was thought to be possible, Bridge made his feelings clear when he ignored the centre back prior to a game between Manchester City and the Blues at Stamford Bridge.

3. Adam Johnson

After grooming a 15-year-old fan, Adam Johnson sealed his fate by kissing the teenager last year, which saw the former England international arrested and charged with underage sexual activity.

After Sunderland sacked the player, Johnson was found guilty and sent to prison for six years. It is unlikely that the former winger will ever play football again.

2. George Best

The Manchester United legend, in 1970 was caught by his then manager Wilf McGuinness while Best was having sex with a prostitute.

It was at the team hotel, United were scheduled to play Leeds in FA Cup semifinal the very day.

Best was only allowed to play after Sir Matt Busby intervened, and in his autobiography Best stated that it wasn’t the smartest thing to do, as he fell over the ball when he had the chance to score the winner.

Prior to his various sex scandals, you would never have thought Ryan Giggs to be capable of such sinful actions, yet the Premier League's most successful player of all time is now also known for an eight yearlong affair with his brother's wife.

JAMB to candidates: Don’t accept admissions not done through CAPS

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board Monday issued a stern warning to candidates not to accept any admission not done through its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). It noted that any offer of admission that was not validated on their profile page with JAMB or offered through the CAPS was invalid. It stated these on its weekly bulletin sent to reporters on Monday in Abuja by its Spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin.
