Top world's poorest countries (see Nigeria's position)

Countries' economies are ranked based on their Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capital and how it affects the economic stability of an average person staying in those nations. This is why the state of a country’s GDP can reflect if the country is wealthy or poor.
According to Focus Economies, most of the top 10 worst economies in the world are on the African continent with the Democratic Republic of Congo taking the lead with a poor GDP per capita of $439 despite the fact that the country has abundant natural resources.

Mozambique follows at second position with $429 GDP per capital, Uganda and Tajikistan take third and fourth positions with $726 and $777 respectively.
5. Yemen
Yemen is at the fifth position with $762 GDP as at 2017 and a projected $1079 GDP for 2023. Yemen’s economy has been affected by incessant civil war and humanitarian crisis.
6. Haiti
Haiti is on the sixth position with $776 GDP being a country that has been extremely vulnerable to extreme weather and natural disaster as World Bank says the 90% of the country’s population is at risk.
7. Ethiopia
Ethiopia ranks seventh with a 2016 GDP of $884. The country is has been really economically challenged because it is landlocked and its neighbor, Djibouti, acts as the main port. However, the country is ranked as the fast growing economy in Africa.
8. Tanzania
Tanzania has a 2017 GDP of $1037 with a projected $1502 GDP by 2023 with a projected $1502. Tanzania’s economy has been on a steady growth as the poverty rate has been falling according to World Bank.
9. Kyrgyzstan
Kyrgyzstan is ninth with $1203. The Kyrgyz economy is at the mercy of external influence due to its over-reliance on gold export.
10. Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan is 10th on the ranking with a projected GDP of $2351 by 2023 and $1514 2017 GDP as the country’s economy growth was fast between 2004 and 2016.
Nigeria ranks 20th among other economies of the world with $2318 projected GDP for 2019.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that International Monetary Fund (IMF)’s statistics released in 2018 for 2017 revealed that Nigeria and South Africa are the largest economies in Africa with a combined Gross Domestic Product (GDP) which is around $750 billion.
It was gathered that there would have to be conscious practical efforts in improving the non-oil sectors if the continent can compete with top economies in the world.

Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe | Nigeria's First President And African Nationalist

Nnamdi - My Father Is Alive  Take a look at the 500 naira note, the man on there is  Dr.  Nnamdi Azikiwe . Please bear in mind that the naira note is a tapestry of pictures that represent the things and people we are most proud of as Nigerians and we are definitely proud of Nnamdi Azikiwe. 'Zik' as he was fondly called(16 November 1904 – 11 May 1996) was a Nigerian statesman who was Governor General of Nigeria from 1960 to 1963 and the first President of Nigeria from 1963 to 1966 (when Nigeria became a republic). Born to Igbo parents in present day Niger State, as a young boy he learned to speak Hausa. He was later sent to live with his aunt and grandmother in Onitsha (his parental homeland), where he learned the Igbo language. A stay in Lagos also exposed him to the Yoruba language; by the time he was in college, he had been exposed to different Nigerian cultures and spoke three languages (an asset as president). Az...

The National President of the group, Mazi Isiguzoro, in a Tuesday interview in Umuahia, Abia State, insisted that the President  must look into the problems facing the entire south-east region, particularly the clamour for the creation of more states in the zone. Isiguzoro said the President has to begin the creation of additional states in the Southeast zone before December. He explained that the zoning of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Vice Presidential slot to the south-east ahead of 2019 election, was never the panacea to the infrastructural decays that have ravaged the zone. His words,”If he wants Ndigbo to adopt him, he should create additional states in Southeast zone, whether the state is from Abia, Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi states or anywhere. “So...

Admissions Will Only Be Offered to Qualified Candidates - JAMB

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has explained that admissions would only be given to qualified candidates who apply for courses into the various institutions in the country. It stated this in its Vol. 1, No 13 weekly Bulletin of the Office of the Registrar and made available to the  News Agency of Nigeria  on Monday in Abuja. The board described information being circulated that over 50 per cent of candidates who yearly apply for admissions into various institutions are not admitted as misleading and erroneous, and denounced the report that every year, after the conduct of the Unified Tertiary and Universities Examination, where millions of candidates apply, barely 20 per cent get admitted. “The truth is that, admissions can only be given to qualified candidates, hence, any figure being bandied around should also be based on the total number of candidates who applied and are qualified." “It will be an unfortunate postulation if the candidates who do ...

Loftus-Cheek Voted By Chelsea Fans To Start For Chelsea Against Man City

Chelsea will attempt to bounce back from Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers when they host Manchester City on Saturday afternoon. The Blues are currently fourth in the Premier League table, a huge 10 points off City despite only suffering two league defeats this term. It will certainly be interesting to see Maurizio Sarri’s starting XI, with a number of players just struggling for form at the moment. Ruben Loftus-Cheek has scored in his last two Premier League appearances for Chelsea, including against Wolves last time out. And the Chelsea fans were asked in a recent poll whether they wanted the England international to start against City, who need to keep winning due to the form of Liverpool. A huge 89% said that they wanted the 22-year-old – valued at £16.2m by Transfermarkt – to be included in the starting XI, and it remains to be seen whether Sarri takes their advice for the key match.

UEFA Approves Creation of Third Club Competition

UEFA confirmed on Sunday the creation of a third European club competition from the 2021/22 season designed to offer more clubs and associations the chance to play European football. After approval from UEFA’s Executive Committee in Dublin, the Europa League will be cut from its current 48-team group stage so that all three competitions feature 32 teams in eight groups of four. The seventh-placed teams in Europe’s top four leagues will qualify for the new competition, and they will be joined by a host of clubs from smaller associations. While the structure to UEFA’s landmark competition the Champions League remains untouched, Europa League winners will now progress automatically to the last 16 of the competition. Teams that finish second in their Europa League group and third-placed teams from the eight Champions League groups will playoff to join the eight group winners in the last 16. That process is repeated in the UEL2 with the eight second-pla...
